At Namwanja Children’s Home in Wakiso, Uganda, we are always looking for compassionate hearts ready to make a direct, lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable children. Volunteering with us is more than an activity — it’s a beautiful opportunity to pour love into young lives, witness grateful hearts in action, and see God’s work unfolding daily. Whether you’re local or able to travel, your time, skills, and presence can help transform childhoods filled with hardship into stories of hope, learning, and purpose.

Why Volunteer at with us?
Our children have faced loss, poverty, and uncertainty. What they need most — besides food, shelter, and education — is consistent love, mentorship, and role models. As a volunteer, you become part of their extended family. You help create the safe, joyful environment where they can thrive academically, emotionally, and spiritually.

What Volunteering Looks Like
We welcome volunteers with open arms and tailor opportunities to your skills and availability. Here are some ways you can serve:
• Education Support — Help with homework, reading sessions, or tutoring in English, math, and science. With the current school term underway, volunteers play a big role in keeping our children focused and catching up on lessons.
• Mentorship & Life Skills — Spend time mentoring older children, sharing career guidance, teaching computer skills, or leading life-skills workshops. Many of our children dream of becoming doctors, teachers, bankers, or leaders — your encouragement helps them believe it’s possible.
• Creative & Recreational Activities — Lead art, music, sports, or drama sessions. These moments bring laughter, build confidence, and create precious memories.
• Daily Home Support — Assist with meal preparation, gardening, light maintenance, or simply playing with the younger ones. Your help allows our small team to focus more on individualized care.
• Spiritual Encouragement — Join morning and evening prayers, share Bible stories, or lead worship. Many children express their gratitude through songs of praise, and your presence strengthens their faith journey.
• Special Skills — Professionals in medicine, counseling, teaching, photography, or administration are especially valuable for short-term projects.

Even a few hours a week or a short visit can create ripple effects that last a lifetime.

Real Impact You Can Make.
Volunteers often tell us they receive far more than they give. You’ll witness moments like:
• A child’s face lighting up when they finally understand a math concept with your help.
• Teenagers opening up about their dreams during one-on-one talks.
• The entire home singing songs of thanksgiving after a fun activity day. Your volunteering directly supports the journey of generosity — turning donations into deeper personal connections and stronger outcomes in education and character development. Who Can Volunteer?
• Local community members in Wakiso or Kampala.
• International volunteers. (we provide guidance on logistics)
• Students, professionals, retirees — all ages and backgrounds are welcome.
• Groups, churches, or corporate teams for special service days.

We prioritize safety, child protection, and meaningful engagement. All volunteers go through a simple orientation and background process.

Volunteering at Namwanja is a powerful way to live out compassion and faith. You won’t just help children today — you’ll help shape the leaders, parents, and change-makers of tomorrow.
